Join the Grinnell School of Music administrative and program team as a key player in the detailed preparation and execution of our popular summer theatre camp, Grinnell Greenroom, including direct instructional experience. This is a fun-packed position that builds a diverse set of skills and experiences.
Our summer intern will work a minimum of 30 hours per week. While start and end dates are flexible, the successful candidate should be available to work a minimum of seven (7) and maximum of ten (10) weeks, including camp week, August 4-10. The Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and Camp Director, gaining valuable professional in event and program planning, with additional opportunities to engage in elements of non-profit management, fundraising, marketing, governance, and other facets of running a community organization, as well as music education, performance, and pedagogy.
The focus of the internship will be co-organizing and co-directing Grinnell Greenroom, a musical theater summer day camp for children and youth in grades 3-8.

In addition to experience planning and executing a successful camp event for an exciting and well-regarded local organization, the intern is eligible to receive a monthly stipend.
The Intern will be required to be onsite during camp (August 4-10), the week before, and at least two business days after camp (August 12-13). During the rest of the summer, the Intern will be required to work at least part-time from our studio and office space in downtown Grinnell; however, we are open to a combination of on-site and remote work, according to a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
Working in a small non-profit involves juggling numerous roles and responsibilities, and therefore the intern will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the organization. We will work together as a team, helping each other successfully execute the details of Grinnell Greenroom. Extensive hours are required during the week of camp. While the focus of the internship is the Grinnell Greenroom summer camp, there may be opportunities for the intern to identify and work on other projects which are especially relevant to their academic or professional goals. Candidates are invited to identify secondary areas of interest in their application and should be prepared to discuss them if selected for an interview.
