Grinnell Greenroom is a FUN, process-oriented, non-competitive program suitable for students who are brand new to musical theater as well as more experienced performers – and everyone in between! Our program is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for those who want to be in the spotlight, and those who have more interest in behind-the-scenes and technical roles. All campers will participate in the ensemble; however, no camper will need to perform (sing, dance, or speak) on their own unless they want to do so.

The Grinnell School of Music believes that arts education should be accessible to everyone and that professional artists should earn a living wage for their work.
$425 is the true-cost tuition per camper. This covers 40+ instructional hours by professional staff, supervisory staff, daily snacks, supplies and materials, and camp swag! Students are required to pack a brown-bag lunch.
We offer a sibling discount of $40 per camper for additional student(s) from the same household.
Reduced tuition is available on a pay-what-you-can basis and should be discussed at the time of registration. Reduced tuition is subsidized by generous support from donors. We invite those who are able to please consider a donation to help make Grinnell Greenroom accessible for another student. If you would like to set up a monthly or bi-weekly payment plan, please just ask! We are happy to help set that up for you.
Karie Miller (she/they) is a theatre kid all grown up. Having participated in community theatre since age 12, Karie is always thrilled to share the magic of theatre and camp! She camper-ed in Central Kentucky with the Girl Scouts for several years, and as an adult worked as the Creative Arts counselor with CampfireUSA on the banks of Kenai Lake in Cooper’s Landing, Alaska for four years. Working with kids of all ages is a joyful and crucial part of how and why she does what she does. When not wearing her campfuntime hat, Karie is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and educator specializing in belonging, and the content, behavior, and containers that promote it, primarily through acts of care, play, and hospitality in the theatre. Prior to Grinnell, she performed and directed in Chicago IL as an ensemble member with Sideshow Theatre Company, specializing in new work. Credits include The Burden of Not Having a Tail, Idomeneus, and Everything Freezes. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. MFA: University of Virginia, PhD: Ohio State University. http://www.kariemiller.com
Some of Erin's favorite things on earth are singing, musical theatre, and camp, so she can't believe that this is actually her real-life job.
When she was 6, Erin's parents went to London and came home with cast recordings of all the hit 1980s musicals, igniting her love of musical theatre and inspiring her to pursue music as a hobby and eventually a career. Erin grew up attending choir camp every summer in Nova Scotia (Canada), singing in every choir she could find, performing in community theatre, and eventually training as a vocalist, musicologist, and arts administrator (B.Mus., University of Prince Edward Island; MA, University of Toronto). As the Executive Director of the Grinnell School of Music, Erin manages the day-to-day operations and teaches voice lessons and other classes.
Erin’s belief that music helps to create stronger, healthier, and happier communities is what drives her work, from social entrepreneurialism to her own vocal practice.
We're confirming our counsellors and professional staff and will keep posting here. Stay tuned!
