New group classes and workshops are added throughout the year, so stay tuned on our website and by subscribing to our e-news. Typically, registration for group classes opens one month prior to the first class.
Sound Tech 101
All ages - under 16 must attend with a participating adult
Whether you’re a performer or an aspiring sound technician, this class will teach you the fundamental skills you need to know. You’ll learn your way around a soundboard and basic PA setup including mics, amps, and monitors. You don’t need to own your own equipment to participate in this class.

Music Production: Garage Band
Grades 5-8 and All Ages
Learn the fundamentals of recording, mixing, and production... on the device you already have! Garage Band is a free app on iOS devices. GNSD students may use their school-issued iPad.

Grinnell Percussive Arts Club
Ages 8-10
In this fun and interactive club, kids will explore percussion patterns and rhythms from around the world, with a special focus on African and Cuban musical traditions. Using a variety of instruments, participants will learn to play dynamic rhythms, work as an ensemble, and build a strong musical foundation through movement, listening, and hands-on practice.
Along the way, participants will strengthen social and listening skills, develop coordination, and discover the joy of making music together in a group.

Songsters Group Singing Lessons
Ages 6-8
In this playful group lesson, children will explore their singing voices with fun, animal-themed games and songs. Students will build vocal confidence, develop their musical ears, and build the foundations of music literacy.
Perfect for young children interested in starting voice lessons, Songsters helps kids discover their voices while developing rhythm, pitch, and listening skills.
The session will conclude with a special performance at our Recital on Sunday, April 26, where Songsters can proudly share what they’ve learned.
